Marian is reading her Kindle and petting Maddy, who is sucking up to Marian while sitting on Lady's pillow and staring at the aloof Lady, who is looking pained and wondering when this obnoxious youngster is going the hell back to New York.
In St. Louis, Marian's dog Lady was a very gracious hostess to the rather rambunctious young visitor. Lady is a bit older and likes her peace and quiet, and mostly tolerated Maddy's presence. Once or twice there was a understated tail-wagging welcome, and a growl or two when Maddy got too forward. Fun to watch Maddy play up to Marian and Lady get her weary aggravation face on.
